Since he is not busy with bishopric items this week, I guess he has lots of time to devote to work (and us). Sunday was our Ward Conference and very spiritually fulfilling with talks on the law of sacrifice, repentance, and a lot on the heritage of happiness that we possess as children of God. I gained many wonderful gems for myself. However, it has been somewhat of a spiritual letdown to have Jason released from the bishopric and not yet receiving another calling. Don’t get me wrong…..we LOVED having him sit with us during meeting. The kids were practically mauling him and Jantzen would not give up his place on “Da-Da’s” lap. We just didn’t expect to feel so sad about the end of such a wonderful time and opportunity. Hopefully with a new calling for Jason a new direction will open up and a new burst of spiritual blessings.
We really had fun with our preschool visit to the Dairy Farm last week as we studied the letter “M”. It was enhanced by the presence of two barn kittens in the milking area. They were even more fun than watching the cows! Alyssa is learning a lot! She decided that she wanted to write like Ashtyn and can now write: Mom, Dad, Ashtyn, and Alyssa. She is very proud of herself. She has been a bundle of fun since stopping having potty accidents as of about a month ago! She had a couple of unexpected slip ups last week, so I guess I need to keep reminding her so that she can continue being successful with it.
Ashtyn thoroughly reveled in the experience of her first horse riding lesson last Friday! It was so fun to watch her be completely enamored and pay such particular attention to everything her instructor was saying. She knew the answers to all of her teacher’s questions and her teacher was a bit surprised that she was so knowledgeable. She was so darling in her little helmet, too! She learned grooming and putting on the tack, and spent about 35 minutes riding and learning various skills, then another 15 minutes to dismount and get the horse and tack put away. She goes again next Monday and she can’t wait! I’ll have to send some photos.
We have enjoyed some beautiful weather with sunshine in the upper 50’s. We will head out to the park after school today. We had such great weather on Saturday for Ashtyn’s birthday party with her friends. It was nice for them to play outside for some of the time. We had 14 kids here and did: stick horse relay races, pin-yourself-on-the-jumping horse, and a boot piñata. It was great fun had by all.
We then had our “old” bishopric over for a crepe dinner and game night. It was a great time and good to have friends over. We haven’t done that for a while and I think we’ll start doing it once a month again. One of our friends recently found employment after about 7 months, so we’ll be celebrating that next.
So, things are good. I guess that’s about it. Jantzen went for his 18-month check-up today. He is almost 3 feet tall and weighs 27 ½ pounds. He is such a happy little guy and has started doing a funny, goofy laugh when he plays tickle games with us. It is a riot and such a good time of their little lives.
