Kids are Fun!

Although we think contrarily (perhaps daily), kids really are fun (and funny!). Here are a few tidbits from our week:

- Alyssa singing the hymns in church today….with the hymnbook upside down….and turning the page every few lines of the song.
- Jantzen very intently running his toy cars and trucks on the road playmate, staying carefully within the lines of the road as it twisted and turned on the mat.
- Ashtyn singing her little heart out in the backseat to the soundtrack of “Enchanted”. She’s a great singer with all of the correct fluctuations and in the style of each song. Her favorite is “Ever After”, by Carrie Underwood and she does it well!
- Ashtyn and Alyssa chatting in the backseat during the instrumental part of the soundtrack “Enchanted”, figuring out what’s happening in the movie during that particular phase of music. Precious!
- As we’re driving home from church and I’m trying to very stealthily sneak a fruit snack for Jantzen who’s going berserk, I hear Alyssa speak up from the back: “Hey, what are you doing up there? I think I heard some crinkling like plastic paper. Are you guys eating something?” Seriously! She can smell chocolate on your breath too!
- Jantzen “getting down to boogie” in the aisles at REI where they had some fun music going on. Quite the attraction for the other shoppers!

We enjoyed another couple of days of temperatures in the mid 50’s this week and lots of sunshine. We got out to a few more parks and had some fun before it cooled today.

Jason turned 33 yesterday! It was an interesting birthday. We helped a friend move in the morning, tried to catch some of the Duke game but Dish Network wasn’t carrying it. Then we went out driving around in the sunshine after lunch and checked out some of our favorite neighborhoods….even found an open house on one that we drive by all the time. Nothing for us, but we always like to look. We went tent-shopping at REI and decided to wait for the big sale in May. I went home to get ready for our much-anticipated date while Jason got a haircut. When I went to pick up the babysitter, she wasn’t home! Nobody was. Luckily we found another young women at home after frantically calling a few people. We made our reservation for the all-you-can-eat Prime Rib buffet at the clubhouse just a bit late. Wonderful! Then we ran out to Loveland to check out Jax (quickly, so as not to keep our last-minute babysitter too late), and they were closed! Apparently they close early on Saturday and Sunday. Whatever. We settled for Dick’s Sporting Goods, but didn’t find anything. It was still a good evening….at least the dinner exceeded our expectations!

After that, we decided to continue Jason’s birthday celebration today with breakfast-in-bed. Chocolate chip pancakes (his favorite) and OJ. Nothing too fancy; we have church at 9am, after all. He is now enjoying his birthday nap and we will have birthday cake and dinner with his brother Adam tonight.
