Family Fall Fun!
We weren't planning to visit the pumpkin patch until NEXT Saturday, but an invitation from friends and a quick check of the weather (wetter and colder through the coming week), convinced us to fit it into an already busy day. We are so glad that we did. It was a fabulous time had by all. Picture a perfect fall day in Northern Colorado: the just snow-capped mountains off in the distance, rising up into the clear blue skies from the patchwork of farmland and trees, the sun shining down on your back, the warm air causing you to roll up your long sleeves but with just the right crispness to let you know it IS fall. What a beautiful thing to spend such a wonderful afternoon with the three most fabulous kids in the world and the handsome guy I call my husband. Nobody seemed to mind that it was super-duper crowded or that the fields were pretty depleted of the round, orange things we had come to collect. (Due to a flood the farm experienced earlier this summer after a freak 3-day rainstorm....quite unsual forthose of us in the drier areas of the world.) We were just having a great time together and watching Jantzen experience this for the first time. He was quite interested in EVERYTHING. The photos show him trying to get at the animals in the pens and staring at the vast fields from the wagon ride, taking it all in. The girls were so excited all morning and loved every minute. The sun went down way too early, but we were still able to fit in the pony rides at the end. That was the true highlight for Ashtyn, as you can see from the genuine smile on her face, rarely captured on camera. We will visit another patch with Ashtyn's school on Friday, so if the fields are full of pumpkins, I'll try to get a few more shots. Some funny kid sayings from this week: Driving to our friends house we pass one of those SUV limo's. Jason points it out to the girls and they look with a "WOW", then Ashtyn says "They must have a lot of kids!" Alyssa repeats "Yeah, they must have ALOT of kids!" Pretty funny. We love you all! Amy
