This week we witnessed firsthand the faith of our little girls in action and it was a beautiful thing. (It was also touching to know that they really are learning something from all of those Primary and Family Home Evening lessons!)
Amy had had a terrible head cold/sinus infection for about 10 days and was considering going to the doctor. One night, before we got up from family prayer, Ashtyn announced that she wanted to say a special prayer for mommy. She offered a beautiful little prayer, asking that Amy would get better. Then, Alyssa followed suit with her own special prayer, asking that Amy would get better. That night, Amy slept well without head congestion for the first time in 10 days! In the morning, her face and head did not hurt! She told this to the girls with big hugs and thanks and they were both so happy......although not surprised......as we talked about how Heavenly Father really listened to and answered their prayers. They continued to say special prayers for Amy for two more days until she was completely better. This was such a great experience and blessing for our family this week. Our kids are truly amazing and are examples to us of living the simple concepts of the gospel.
Other highlights from our week were:
*Beautiful weekend weather (again) in the 60's. That meant a fun picnic to the new park on Lake Windsor Saturday afternoon. It is gorgeous with lots of grass, a great playground, and a beach and swimming are roped off. We can't wait to go in the summertime! A very nice family had a chocolate lab and a brand new golden lab puppy who was so darn cute! They let our kids hold her and pet her to their heart's content. It was the highlight of their outing.
*Ashtyn's new fascination with the song "YMCA" since they heard it at Music and Movement time at school. We enjoyed making up our own words to the tune about cleaning the bathroom and it lightening our chore day on Friday as we laughed and sang and scrubbed.
*Jantzen giving "kisses" now. He gets so excited and scrunches up his little face with a funny smile then lays one on your lips or nose. Today at church he just kept kissing Jason over and over. It was sweet!
*Jason and I managing to get away for a date to the Melting Pot.....ultra yum! It was "Great Plates" in Fort Collins. Everyone runs specials for $18.68, the year that Ft. Collins came to be. So, for Melting Pot it's a pretty good deal. We enjoyed the chatting and the food. Unfortunately, Jason worked extra hard this weekend. He went back to the office after our date until 4am on Saturday, and then on Saturday night until 1am on Sunday. Hopefully they have averted a trip to Singapore. Although I was a little grumpy about this taking over part of our perfect weekend, I am always happy to hear how much Jason is needed and valued at his company. He is truly super smart and gifted in his line of work....and blessed!
*Visiting "A Woman's Place" domestic violence safehouse and advocacy for women of Weld County. For our last Enrichment, our Relief Society put together 40 nice gift baskets of various "girly" items and Amy took them over on Thursday. She left so happy to see the joy it brought to the workers there and their assurance that they would be so welcomed and well-received by the women who have to come through their program.
*Last, but not least, enjoying the safe arrival of our new nephew, Ivin Register Holt. Skype and videocams are wonderful things for those who must live apart! We are so excited to see him in person and hold him in 10 short days!
We love you all and hope you had a good week!
