We have enjoyed perfect
Since the garage door broke on Monday, we have found how much we enjoy our garage and parking our vehicles in it. Poor Jason was too busy to do much about it besides research the problem until Saturday. At which point, he called up some companies and a guy was out within an hour and had it fixed in less then 30 minutes. Some things are SO WORTH the money to not do yourself……especially when you can’t just go get the part at Lowe’s and when you can’t afford to spend the whole day being irritated and end up doing it wrong or breaking something else in the process. We loved Chris, the garage door repairman.
Jason also loved the Comcast cable guy who visited us to switch out our Dish for Comcast cable. For the same price we were paying we now have the Mountain (for those all-important BYU football games) and still get BYU TV for General Conference and such. It was a good day for Jason. Our friends are very happy for us (and them) and will be visiting for many fall Saturday afternoons to come!
Ashtyn’s getting pretty brave and good without her training wheels and Alyssa is doing a lot better WITH her training wheels and actually RIDING her bike. Jantzen has no problem with his bike. He can make it go pretty fast without using the pedals, even though he could probably reach. He is such a boy – He gets this intense, yet teasing look on his face and just runs that bike with all his might, steering crazily back and forth (on purpose) and laughing. We remark often that he’s quite more adept physically than the girls were at his age. We have been enjoying family bike rides every week, usually on Sunday, and it was a beautiful evening with a hint of fall briskness today as we made it around the lakes on the trail through the neighborhood.
It was funny on Saturday while I was trimming back all of the bushes for fall and giving the girls the leftover flowers for their hair…..I realized that they were speaking in English accents and trying to be most proper as they played princesses and servants and used their bikes for horses. It was quite cute and I wondered where in the world they picked up on the accents. They were quite good.
The other cute thing was watching them with their stuffed animals on the way to church this morning. They were singing Book of Mormon stories and making the animals do the actions. It was sweet ----- even after 20+ rounds of it.
A classic quote of the week was this: Jason was reading on CNN about a 600-something pound woman. Ashtyn overheard and said “Wow, Mom! That’s even more than YOU weigh right now!” Yes, dear, it is. I guess my tummy looks quite large to her!
Today in Sacrament Meeting Jason was whispering to Jantzen that our little baby was in Mommy’s tummy. (I think he saw a baby or one of the people was talking about a baby or something.) So, I accordingly smiled at him and patted my roundness. He curiously climbed down from Jason’s lap and patted the belly then started saying “See It, See It, Baby” and was trying to pull up the material of my dress, then when that didn’t work, he started pulling my dress up from the bottom and we had a difficult time deterring him! Also, didn’t help that Jason was about to bust up laughing!
It was the third or fourth of rough and busy weeks for Jason with extra scouting duties and lots of changes happening at work. They made the official announcement of his new job…….I”ll let him give you the details because it’ll just be better explained that way…….so things will start really rolling along and I am hopeful that it will mean a little less meetings in time. At first neither of us were too jazzed about the change, but now we actually think it is going to be better in many ways.
Looking forward to a little better week this week, although the clock is ticking on the baby calendar and there are a few extra things to still accomplish before I”ll feel ready. (That’s only in the physical sense….I’m feeling MOST un-ready in an emotional sense!) Jason has been patient and helpful as I have tried to prepare and keep the household running too.
The girls are both doing great in 1st grade and preschool. We love their teachers and their school. Jantzen and I have enjoyed some fun times during Alyssa’s preschool…….since, alas, he is not napping anymore! Great timing! We are doing soccer for Ashtyn and gymnastics for Alyssa and that’s both been good, although Ashtyn decided the first week of soccer that she’d much rather do horseback riding. It has been a tough lesson for all of us to keep at the soccer since we had already paid and committed to it.
I guess that’s a good overview. We hope that you are all quite well and happy and looking forward to a good week!
