We spent a lovely morning at the river by Nana and Papaw's house. The kids love to go there and the water is calm and shallow. This is Amy's usual stance, a few steps behind Aubrey who wanders all of the time.
At first, we had some flip-flop issues......the darn things don't stay on so well in the water.
Here is the first lost pair, floating away from Ashtyn.
Here is Ashtyn in her slow attempt to get them back. Mom raced along the riverbank instead and headed them off.
Here is Alyssa losing her pair for the first or second time. The frustration was mounting.
Here is Aubrey, a little unsure of whether she wanted to try the river.
Luckily Nana saved the day with the last two pair of water shoes that they had at the CVS Pharmacy, where they sell pretty much everything. Miraculously, they had the two right sizes we needed. Thanks, Nana!
Happy girls could continue exploring the little river without cutting up their feet or slipping everywhere.
We went upstream to the deeper pool.
It was hot enough that the water felt great and we enjoyed some swimming and tube floating.
Aubrey decided that she DID love the river.......she is a water baby anyway.
She especially loved figuring out how to float in the tube. Just had to keep a hand on her so she didn't float downstream!
Jantzen got into his groove with water wings AND tube in tact.
Alyssa is usually our coldy-boldy girl and opted to leave the water after a while for her towel by Nana.
Ashtyn is the never-cold girl and could've stayed in the water all morning long.
Dad picked a water fight with Ashtyn but he never fights fair!
Aubrey was most happy to play in the wet sand on the shore!
Our Aubrey-Bear.......our "The Bear" as she is sometimes aptly called.
She discovered the delight of digging in the sand with a large rock - What Fun!
Nana got Jason back with some water bottles but the photos wouldn't come through on this post.
